In a nutshell: Brandi Raae is a desert-dwelling, homeschool mom who loves to devour fiction and chocolate. Her desire is to walk in a manner worthy of the gospel and to encourage other women to do the same.
Brandi spends much of her reality homeschooling, cooking, and cleaning. For fun she likes to garden, walk neighborhood trails with her soulmate, (or daughter and dog) and dream up fantastical tales of fairies, dragons, and all things whimsy. To stay sane she delights in the Lord and keeps piles of chocolate and books at hand. 🙂
She has been married to her amazing, selfless husband for 19 years, and she’s been blessed with three awesome kids – 2 boys (17 and 15) and 1 girl (11). She and her family have made their home in the hot, dry Arizona desert for the past 10 years, but before that Brandi lived out her days as a southern girl near Memphis, TN.
Brandi spent 5 years writing for The Old Schoolhouse® Magazine as a homeschool product reviewer but hopes to be able to spend more time writing children’s stories and eventually novels. Mysterious Moon is her first published children’s book.
I started my first blog (formerly known as Autumn’s Attic and then Autumnfawn Lane) in February of 2006 mostly as a replacement for scrapbooking. Life just got too busy with three kids who were 6, 4, and 8 months at the time. Homeschooling, along with all of my other SAHM duties, took a huge chunk of my time, and I didn’t have the energy to keep up with scrapbooking every picture and detail of our lives.
Even though I was a little leery of blogging my life on the internet, I loved the idea that I could virtually keep up with scrapbooking our lives without the constant mess of albums, paper, and stickers spread out all over my room. As a bonus, my AZ family would get to see pictures of the kids on a regular basis. (At the time our family lived in TN.)
I quickly found that blogging was much to my liking. Not only could I “scrapbook,” but I could write about all sorts of other stuff, too. Blogging satisfied my intense passion for writing and also connected me with other moms all across the globe. It was fun making cyber friends and writing about all things mom life.
Little did I know that this blogging venture would lead me to become a member of the Schoolhouse Review Crew in which I had the privilege of reviewing on my blog all sorts of products, mostly those of which pertain to homeschooling in some way, shape, or form. (As of 2015, I am taking a break from reviewing for the Schoolhouse Review Crew.)
Though I LOVE writing, keeping up with all things techy is quite challenging for me and stretches me in ways I never thought possible. I’ve been trying to change and sort of update my blog all by myself this past year, so, well, all I can ask is that you bear with me as it will continue to be an ongoing project I am sure. As of September 2016, I made the switch to WordPress and am still learning the ins and outs. Truthfully, I always feel so behind in blogging since my first priority as a homemaker/homeschooler keeps me super busy.
I spend my days homeschooling my children, reviewing wonderful products, and carrying out the dozens of typical stay-at-home-mom tasks. On my blog I love to chronicle my family’s life, store my thoughts, share my faith, reminisce days gone by, compile yummy recipes, reveal nifty tips, talk about topics relating to health, and write about all things homeschool.
And as with everything in my life, including blogging, I do it all for the glory of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Thanks for stopping by!
