Welcome to Literacy Musing Mondays May 8-14
I love this quote. I love being a mom, but I know I fall short. My kids may see the good, but, unfortunately, they see the bad, too. I hope that they will always hold a special place in their hearts for my dedication to reading the Bible to them and making them memorize Scripture. 🙂 It’s one thing I know I’ve done right!
I found this quote in a wonderful book that I’ve read a few times and have on my bookshelf in my room. Moms Who Changed the World by Lindsey O’Connor is such a gem. Lindsey tells the stories of many moms who ended up raising children who impacted the world – children such as Moses, George Washington, Augustine, John & Charles Wesley, Amy Carmichael, and more.
I love how the book is laid out. At the beginning of each chapter, Lindsey has a “Look Who Rocked the World” page that tells all about the child a particular mother raised. The rest of the chapter is devoted to the mom who raised that child. To set the stage, Lindsey always starts off with a personal story from her own life as a mom. Then she tells the mother’s story by going back in time and writing in story fashion. After that she writes from a biographical standpoint giving facts and other information about the mother. Lastly, Lindsey shares what she’d like to be able to tell the mother if she could.
Lovely book. And perfect for a Mother’s Day gift.
What’s something you love about your mom? Do you have any special memories that stand out?
My Answer: I know Mother’s Day isn’t a happy day for some, but I love Mother’s Day. I love being a mom, and I am blessed with a wonderful mom who I am very close to. I LOVE that my mom is such a great listener. She’s so easy to talk to, and I’m so thankful that I can share just about anything with her. I’m also thankful that she taught me about Jesus and the importance of relationship over religion.
Special Memories: Loved our once a year shopping trip for school clothes and lunch at Sbarro’s pizza. Going to Disneyland in 2004 (just her and me), and also our first beach trip together a few years ago. I could go on and on here, but those are a few big ones that stand out.
I’d love to know your answers! Please share in the comments. 🙂
