Go to Sleep, Sheep! {Book Review}

Pin It Now!

Go to Sleep, Sheep!
Illustrated by Sydney Hanson
Published by Tommy Nelson

Synopsis

It's time for bed on Sunshine Farm, but Mama Sheep's babies are still FULL of energy. The cute quadruplets stall as long as they can with all kinds of requests: five more minutes of playtime, one quick snack, one more story, a drink, and even a tickle fight.

Finally, after prayers and snuggles, the tired sheep are ready to fall asleep "all safe and snug in Bedtime Barn".

About the Book

Go to Sleep, Sheep! is a super fun bedtime story. A story most mamas can relate to, I'm sure.

This semi-sturdy, barn-shaped board book boasts soft, colorful illustrations that will charm kids and parents alike. Each baby sheep has a slightly different look giving each one a bit of character. One is plain, one wears glasses, one wears a red scarf around his neck, and one wears a blue bow around her head.

The book's 20 pages are written in 4-line poetry style with the second and fourth lines rhyming. After each stanza, you read the words, "Go to sleep, sheep"! The repetition is great for young children!

My Thoughts

I adore reading (and writing) picture books! I definitely miss the picture book phase of life with my own kids. I can't wait to have grandchildren one day, so I can take them to the library and pile up on picture books once again.

Go to Sleep, Sheep! is a keeper. I really wish I could go back for just one night and tuck my own littles in bed and read them this sweet story. I bet it'd be a favorite - one we'd have to read over and over again like Goodnight Moon and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

I received this book from the BookLook Bloggers book review bloggers program. However, I was NOT required to write a review for this one. I liked it so much I wanted to share a review anyway.
