Farmhouse Style Christmas Ornaments

Pin It Now!

I LOVE searching Etsy every year for the perfect ornaments for my kids. Each year, around the middle of November on the night we decorate our Memory Christmas Tree, my kids get to open a new ornament. It's a fun tradition for our family.

I wish I could reveal the ornament I found on Etsy for my daughter this year. I absolutely love it. But, I don't want to risk her seeing it. I will probably reveal on instagram, though. :)

So, my kids won't be getting farmhouse ornaments this year, but I think it would be so fun to have a farmhouse style Christmas tree! Those state ornaments are pretty neat and would make cute Christmas present decorations, too. :)

If you're looking for farmhouse style ornaments to dress up your tree this year, take a look at these lovely ornaments from Etsy! I hope you find something you like.

2018 Holiday Gift Guide: Toys

Pin It Now!

I'm actually a bit sad that I've been out of the toy buying stage for a few years. My baby is 13. So, shopping for Christmas gifts and wrapping them all up isn't nearly as fun as it used to be. Easier though. :)

This isn't an overwhelming list or anything, but supposedly these items are trending this holiday season.

Goodness, those Pomsies and Scruff-A-Luvs are adorable. My daughter has SO MANY stuffed animals and some are still piled up in those hanging toy hammocks. The hammocks are a MUST for storing lots of dolls and animals. Smart purchasing decision for sure.

And Barbie. I have loved, still love, and will keep loving Barbie!

I keep hearing about Paw Patrol through the grapevine. Probably because I keep kids during MOPS at our church. ;)

My family has always loved playing games together, so I listed a couple that looked like ones I'd buy if my kids were a bit younger.

Looking at all these toys has me pining for grandkids just a smidge. My oldest is 19, so maybe sooner rather than later???

God Bless You & Good Night by Hannah C. Hall {Book Review}

Pin It Now!

God Bless You & Good Night (Touch and Feel)
Written by Hannah C. Hall
Illustrated by Steve Whitlow

Synopsis

Cute and cuddly animal families prepare for bedtime. Parents help their little ones feel safe and loved as they go about their nighttime routines.

About the Book

This beautiful, touch-and-feel board book opens and closes with a simple statement, "God bless you and good night."

Tucked in between, animals are doing all the things that kids do to get ready for bed: eating a quick snack, taking a bath, putting on pajamas, reading books, saying prayers, and snuggling with loved ones.

Kids will love hearing the rhythm and rhyme of playful words and touching the different surfaces on each two-page spread. Little fingertips will delight in exploring textures such as soft fur, smooth skin, glittery snow, and rough sand.

Best of all, the bedtime story will help children to remember to thank God for the day.

My Thoughts

So simple. So sweet. God Bless You & Good Night is my favorite kind of book to read to little ones. I absolutely love the illustration style. I like the adorable-looking animals and soft, rich hues of the animals' environments. Very endearing.

Text is easy and fun to read. I love rhyme when it's done well! The story isn't too short or too long - only 18 pages. Perfect for a quick yet meaningful read.

I like how a few words or phrases on each page are printed in a different font and color. Words like tummy and yummy and phrases like scrub-a-dub and oh-so-sweet really stand out from the rest of the text. Adds to the playful mood of the story.

In my experience, toddlers seem to love being able to interact with books they read. The touch-and-feel element makes this book an excellent bedtime story choice!

Book Rating: 5 stars.
