Another Shiloh?

Pin It Now! I just read that someone famous has just named their new baby girl, Shiloh. I am not exactly fond of the Hollywood couple that stole our daughter's name!!! I like being a little original with naming our kids--not very in to old fashioned names and such. Thank goodness I had the name picked out before Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie did because I probably would have had to change it. It is my guess, though, that they didn't have the same inspiration as I did for naming her Shiloh. I must adimit it is a beautiful name!!!!

Partially Digested Blueberries

Pin It Now! Reader's Discretion Advised: This story is not for those with a weak stomach. If you are eating something, put it down.
The past couple of days have been quite miserable at our house. Wednesday afternoon around 3pm Mullin informed me that his stomach hurt. A few minutes later he was hurling all over our couch. He ran to the bathroom and threw up some more missing the toilet. The boys love blueberries and had eaten some for lunch which made this stuff a nice brownish purple with lots of partially digested blueberry chunks. Blueberries stain fast. After I got him situated in his bed I surveyed the damage with tears in my eyes not knowing where to begin. Our couch is all one piece, and the puke was seeping down the back and sides. I made a rash decision to take it outside and hose it down. Probably not the best move, but oh, well. On to the bathroom--it took me an hour to clean that teensy weensy bathroom! I was just about finished mopping the floor when I heard a coughing/gurgling kind of sound coming from the boys' room. Mullin's bed is the top bunk, and when I walked into the room all I could see was throw up EVERYWHERE!!! The floor, the wall, the dresser, his huge tub of Lord of the Rings characters, his bed and Lincoln's bed were covered. Fortunately Mark had made it home from work by this time. I don't know what I would have done without his help. From 5pm-8pm we were cleaning up the mess. Poor Shiloh had to stay in her playpen the whole time. Around 8, I wasn't sure if I had been smelling throw up too long or if I wasn't feeling well myself. It wasn't long before I knew the answer. To make a long story short, I threw up all night long. Lincoln joined in around 9 or so. He threw up all night as well, and I couldn't do a thing to help since I was so miserable. Poor Mark literally cleaned carpets and washed sheets and towels all night long getting no sleep. To make matters even worse, he had to stay home the next day and take care of everybody. Now that is a guy dedicated to his family!! He did such a great job, and I am so impressed that our carpet looks so good. Today is Friday and we are all a bit weak but on the mend, and that is a good thing since I have to get this house ready to show tomorrow! I just hope Mark doesn't get the stomach bug.

Quiet Time

Pin It Now! The term "Quiet Time" has been so over used that I sometimes yawn upon hearing it. But, after being hit by one of those"tough questions" by none other than Lincoln, I was reminded and convicted this morning of just how important daily meditation on God's Word is. During bible study with the boys, Lincoln asked me why God doesn't answer his prayers. We adults may know how to rationalize this complex subject, but this is a 4 year old we are talking about, and I needed an on the spot, truthful yet sensitive answer to satisfy him. Shiloh has been under the weather for the past 2 days, and Lincoln faithfully prays for everyone in the family to not get sick. I think I was able to provide a somewhat decent answer. After our lesson was over, I felt a nudging from You know Who, to spend some time in the Word right then and there. During my "Quiet Time" He reminded me of just how fortunate I am to be able to come in to His presence whenever and wherever all because of His one-time sacrifice. He took my place. He suffered for me, so can it be that difficult to open my Bible and read what He wrote for me? I have made it a habit for over the past 13 years or so, to spend time in God's Word on a regular basis, but every now and then I am tempted to just skip it so I can tend to chores and such. I am busy with 3 kids, but it is essential that I not skip time with Him so I can be prepared for all of those tough questions that my kids will continue to ask. I pray that God will give me the wisdom to train my kids to depart not from the narrow path and to be aliens in this ever changing world.

Mother's Day Memories

Pin It Now! "Her children arise and call her blessed..." Prov.31:28

I have been a mother for almost 7 years now, and I still think it is the hardest thing I have ever done!!! It is so worth it, though. Just look at those cute little faces! Mullin and Lincoln made me breakfast complete with flowers that Mullin picked from our flower bed. They both made me cards that they were so proud of, and Mullin made me lunch after church. Mullin is such a thoughtful little boy wanting everything to be just right for his Mommy. For dinner they surprised me with my favorite pizza--Papa John's pineapple. Yum!

I can only hope that I will be as wonderful a mother as my mom was and still is. I want my kids to adore me as much as I adore her!!

Happy Anniversary

Pin It Now!
"And in his heart my heart is locked, and in his life my life." --Christina Rossetti

I believe I truly have married someone who has and will continue to weather the storms of life with me and kiss me when I am old and gray and beauty has faded away.

Thanks for 9 great years!
