Garden Party

Pin It Now!
Shiloh's garden birthday party finally arrived!  Seems like I have been planning it forever.  After I decorated the table, I thought, How in the world could this have taken so much time and funds?  It all looks so simple once it's displayed.  It was worth it for my Sweet Sue Girl. :)

She begged for a pinata this year.  Took forever for the salesperson to find just a regular butterfly at Party City.  So glad we waited ~ it was perfect for our theme!

Table setting and "garden cake."  This was my first experience painting with acrylic paint, but I wanted the pots to match the color theme. Have no idea if it's water proof or not.  I did line the inside with foil in case it wasn't food safe.  I was going to fill the pot with Dirt Pudding, a recipe from Mark's grandparents, but Shiloh insisted on chocolate cake.  So, I just crumbled chocolate cake, poured melted chocolate frosting over it, and then topped it off with crushed Oreos to make it look more like topsoil.  Made homemade sugar cookie flowers and added gummy worms, too.  FUN!

After Shiloh's friends arrived, she opened gifts.  Lots of neat art stuff, including a diary that she's "written" in everyday since, Barbies, and a Littlest Pet shop Hospital.

Doesn't look to happy about turning 6.  Or maybe it's b/c Mama stopped her from eating cake to pose. :)

The girls swim and take turns planting flower seeds into their little pots.

We saved the pinata for last so the girls could dry off before going home.  And Shiloh is first to take a swing.

It took a few rounds, but Shiloh was actually the one to make the final blow that sent candy and trinkets flying!!  All in all a very fun party.  I love you Shiloh!!
Party cleanup:  Mullin actually volunteered the vacuum the kitchen for me! :)  How nice, especially after he already helped so much during the party.  Lincoln was a big helper, too.  Thanks guys!!

Six!

Pin It Now!
Happy birthday baby big girl!!  Six!  I can't believe it!

Added to your Zhu Zhu city collection and gave you a stepping stone kit.  It will look great by the bean you planted!

Because you will be having cake for your big party, I let you pick out a Ben & Jerry's to celebrate your day.  Cinnabun, of course!

Aunt Brooke and cousins stopped by ~ more Zhu Zhu pet stuff!

King of the Grill

Pin It Now!
That's the title of the Father's Day card the kids picked out.  They love their daddy's grillin'!!

Mullin and Lincoln bought him a sunscreen for his new Ford Fiesta.  A must have item for the desert summers!  We also gave him an Amazon gift card to buy books for his beloved Kindle.

Soft tacos as requested.  The kids were so excited to have MEAT tacos for a change.  It's mostly home made refried beans instead of hamburger.  SO much cheaper and healthier! ;)

Oh, and coconut cream pie for dessert.  The best ever.

Hope you had a great day, babe!

Perfect Punch for Baby Boy Shower

Pin It Now!

What You Need For 2 Punch Bowls:

  • 1 gallon of Blue Hawaiian Punch
  • 2 - 2 liters of Sprite, 7-Up, or Ginger Ale
  • 1 gallon of vanilla ice cream (or pineapple sorbet for some yummy flavor!)

What You'll do:

Combine 1/2 of the Hawaiian Punch and 1 bottle of soda in a punch bowl. Scoop 1/2 of the ice cream (or less depending on how much "fluff" you want) on top.

*For super fizzy ice cream which looks more like bubbles, add in half of the ice cream after the Hawaiian Punch, and then pour in soda last.

Tips:

  • Make ice cubes with some of the Hawaiian Punch to keep punch chilled longer.
  • Large rubber ducks work better than mini rubber ducks. They seem to be able to stay afloat. The minis just tip over.
  • Adding in some apple juice or using pineapple ice cream/sorbet gives the punch some extra yummy flavor.

Enjoy!

Apal for Babby

Pin It Now!
My heart just about melted right out of my chest and seeped out my belly button when I saw this note Shiloh had written and set by her daddy's coffee pot.  So. Stinkin'. CUTE!

Shiloh loves to give her daddy gifts even if they are recycled right from her very own bedroom. :)  She has such a sweet, little spirit--makes my heart feel all squeezed up!!  Well, our apples trees are bursting with ripe, green treats, so I guess she picked one for her daddy to take to work the next day.  What a thoughtful daughter to give daddy such a healthy snack!

Shiloh is also in to writing all her own notes even though she can't quite spell yet.  Oh, and I guess we still need to work on those pesky b's and d's.  I love seeing all these beautiful notes--such treasures.  ;)

Diaper Wreath

Pin It Now!

A very cute and easy gift and decoration for a baby shower!

For the base, I used a sturdy foam circle that I bought at Michael's.

You will also need a pack of diapers - I used white newborn ones.

To secure diapers around the foam wreath, I used rubber bands - I chose a pack with just the natural-colored bands.

Here's what it looks like when the first layer is done.

I overlapped the diapers so none of the green foam could be seen.

Finished product hanging up at the baby shower, which was decorated in a brown/blue theme.

Other helpful hints: I used 10 items to fill the wreath, and I tied all of them to the wreath with thin blue ribbon.  Items used: pacifiers, socks, lovey, rattle, Burt's bees diaper cream, teething ring, onesies, and one of those nose suckers. :)

Before I secured all of the baby items, I wrapped the wreath in brown ribbon with blue polka dots.

A little difficult to see in the pictures, but as a finishing touch, I tied small strips of blue and brown ribbon to the rubber bands at the ends of the diapers.

I was so excited with the way it turned out.  It totally worked for me!

Staycation for 2 Please

Pin It Now!
Saying goodbye to our boys for a week.  They left for Memphis on Thursday night and drove straight through.  I can't even imagine!!  So, Shiloh and I had 8 days to ourselves.  We had lots of fun. :)
Getting our hair done by our wonderful hairstylist!  (Aunt Lindsay)
Shiloh was so excited about getting a blow-up pool.  Oh my word, it took forever to blow that thing up!  Needless to say, I was dizzy!

Movie time--Barbie and the Fashion Fairytale.  Yummy snacks to go with it.  Unfortunately, the library copy wouldn't work past chapter 4, but Netflix came to the rescue the next day. :)

Bowling with cousins.  Shiloh even got a strike . . . with bumpers, of course.

Picking peaches at my mom's house.  Oh, so delicious!!
Mall day with my mom.  Eating cookie dough cheesecake at The Cheesecake Factory.
Carousel riding.
Totally surprised Grandma and me when Shiloh decided to get her ears pierced.  Kept going back and forth about the whole ear-piercing thing.  Kinda scared about the pain involved.  But I guess she was feeling brave that day.
Get ready for the pinch!  She didn't cry, but I could tell it hurt a little.

All done and so pretty.  She chose December's beautiful birthstone.  Reminded me of getting my ears pierced at her age, but I chose pink. ;)
Super fun day with Grandma, and so glad she shared Shiloh's ear-piercing event!
Apple picking in our own backyard.

Showing off new shirt and headband that went so well with her new earrings.
Getting ready to meet the little cousins to play at McDonald's.

Spending time with Grandpa while swimming with little cousins.

All in all, a very fun and quiet week.  I'll forever remember our special girl-time sweet Shiloh!
