Pin It Now!
Well, our Christmas vacation hasn't been all we'd hoped, but things could be a lot worse so I am not going to complain too much.
Since Christmas night we have had sick children, and it isn't over yet.
It all started with Mullin after we hiked Wind Cave Trail. Fever, sore throat, and now a weak cough have been Mullin's constant Christmas vacation companions.
A couple of days after Mullin got sick, Shiloh followed suit, except her symptoms were entirely different. She threw up about 10 times in less than 24 hours. Anyone who has children in this age bracket can identify with the fact that this can be VERY messy!! Thankfully she didn't ever vomit on my mom's furniture. It did get on the carpet a little bit, though. When Shiloh would get the same look that Frodo would get when the ring was calling him, I knew to race to the sink or toilet. I had to change her sheets all night long, too. I am grateful that I had a few layers already on the bed!!
I have never seen our pour Sweet Sue so pitiful in all my life. My mom was a huge help--she was constantly doing all the nasty throw up laundry, so I was able to just take care of my girl. I don't think I have ever received so many cuddles from her. Except for the sick part, it was a sweet time of closeness.
Well, come Saturday we thought our family was on the mend, and we even drove out to our new home to see the progress being made. To our dismay, Shiloh started having major blowouts if you know what I mean. That lasted for a few days and she is still pretty puny even to this day. Poor thing looks like Tiny Tim.
Just as we were thinking the germs must have bypassed Lincoln, he came down with fever and a cough. Better that, though, then what Shiloh had!! Needless to say we didn't start school today as planned.
How's that for bringing in the new year??

We brought that stuff home after Thanksgiving. Emma managed to 'get' the upstairs carpet shortly after consuming grape juice. Clean up required the renting of a steam cleaner from Schnucks and oxy cleaner. Jack was next and I too indulged in some rare cuddle time. Then it was my turn. Emma saw a bucket by my head as I was lying in bed and told me, "Now Mama, if you think you are going to puke, be sure to do it in the bucket!" and brought me one of the left over mini cans of ginger ale from the fridge.
We just got your Christmas card. What a beautiful family!
Happy New Year.
Hi! My name is Anna-Marie Smith. I live outside of Flagstaff, AZ. My husband and I just moved here this summer from Memphis, TN, too! My husband worked at UofM and I went to Bellevue College Ministry. We like it out here, but we sometimes miss our TN.
Poor sick kiddos! Sure hope everyone is feeling better!
