First Day of School ~ 2014

Pin It Now!

You know what my favorite thing about today is? That it's over. Yep.

Okay, now that I got that off my chest, I will say that there were some really good things about today. Like this is how the day started off - my first time to make up little back-to-homeschool happies. (Seriously, this was the first time my kids had ever eaten a Twinkie.)

I'm just having what I call a "Rapunzel Moment." You know, that scene right after Disney Rapunzel touches grass and tastes freedom for the very first time? Excited, miserable, laughing, sobbing . . . you get the picture. That's me right about now, and I think I need to take me a pill for crazy people.

You know what? All first days of homeschool seem to be characterized by super highs and super lows. (Well, the whole first month, actually.) And by the end of the day, I am usually in tears wondering why in the world I'm doing what I'm doing. If only the bad thoughts would stop there. Before I know it, I'm drowning in a sea of despicable me.

I've had to remind myself several times of this. And my faithful husband reminded me that God loves me. Trust me, I'm not very lovable right now. You wouldn't want to be in the same room with me. Just sayin'.

Back to school pictures rarely end without a little bit of drama. Today was no different. Thank you, Shiloh, for your cooperation, and boys, I really hope these pics make you laugh because what else are we gonna do about it, right?

Homeschooling definitely isn't all glitz and glam, but God is faithful. Trusting it's only going to get better and better from here on out! Goodnight. :)
