Even if a cute, cuddly kitten spoke to me with human words, I think I would be a bit freaked out.
I know there are some who say that all the animals had the ability to speak as we do before sin entered the world. If that was the case, then I can see how she wouldn't have been afraid. And if sin hadn't entered yet, then I guess she couldn't have experience fear until after the infamous bite. Oh well, I guess I just answered my own question.
There is one thing we do know, though. She was the very first Parselmouth.
