Literacy Musing Mondays ~ Stocking Stuffer Ideas

Pin It Now!

Welcome to Literacy Musing Mondays where you can share all of your literacy related posts! I can't believe another year is already wrapping up!

Only 20 more days until Christmas. :)

My brain is cramped with all things holiday. And right now, baking lists and stocking stuffer ideas are dancing around in my head like happy little elves rockin' around a sparkly Christmas tree. I'm by NO means creating a comprehensive list. I'm jotting down a few things that we like or have enjoyed in the past.

Struggle for Catan Card Game

If you like to play the Catan board game, you will probably like the Catan card game. This game consists of cards only and moves a bit quicker than the board game. Still just as fun, though. Card game is for 2-4 players.

Spot It!

We own the original version of this game, but this one looks perfect for the holidays! Spot It! is a fast-paced game which I LOVE.  Each player receives one card with little pictures all over it. From the main deck of cards that is positioned face down, a player draws the top card and flips it over. The first player to call out a matching image on his own card gets to keep the card. Play continues until all the cards are gone. Player with the most cards wins. There are instructions for more than one way to play the game, too. 2-8 players ages 6-adult.

BeanBoozled

My husband recently brought home this make-up-your-own-rules Jelly Belly game.  Look-alike yummy and nasty jelly beans are mixed together. You have to take a chance and hope you pick a tasty bean, but keep a garbage can handy in case you luck out! Seriously, you will want to spit out stinky socks and dead fish as quickly as possible.

Mighty Bright Book Light

Awesome gift for a book lover! I love mine and use it every single night. There's just something so wonderful about turning out all the lights and reading until my eyelids are struggling to stay open. :) You can clip this light right onto your book or device.

Smencils

I think smelly pencils make school a little more fun. Don't you? I'm such a sucker for fun school supplies, though. The above pencils feature delicious Christmas aromas like candy cane and sugar plum.

Anything Burt's Bees

I'm a huge Burt's Bees fan, and in my opinion, a girl can't have too many moisturizing cosmetic-y things! I love all of the wonderful smells and product variety minus the synthetic yuckiness. This last one isn't very literacy related - sorry!   I don't know about you, but I'm finding that as my kids get older, I have to get more creative with stuffing stockings. Not sure yet what all I'm going to do this year.

What are your favorite stocking stuffers to give? Receive?
