Kicked off October with some sign-making.
Fled the desert for a day to breathe in pine air and to gaze at golden forests in Flagstaff.
Harvested and dried some herbs from my tiny garden.
Enjoyed a few fleeting pops of fall color in my desert backyard.
Finished up homeschool literature study of Red: the true story of RED RIDING HOOD.
Designed and hung my first kitchen gallery wall using only on-hand items.
Drove to Sedona in search of a Red October.
On our previous trip up north, we found gold leaves a plenty. This trip we hoped to score big with red . . .
First stop: eating at a fancy restaurant.
We did find a leaf to match my middle son's hair.
Pretty view, but only a couple of tiny specks of red.
Nice, but not much red here either.
Well, I spy with my little eye some man-made red, but not really a whole lot of red in nature. Golds and browns mostly, maybe a hint of red, but not exactly what what I'd set my heart on.
We decided to hike a little farther than planned, crossing a creek and climbing over fallen trunks and limbs. My husband veered off to the left at some point, and before long I heard him call, "Hey, come over here!"
Jackpot! Red, glorious red. :)
Sedona satisfied my craving for red leaves.
Before we headed home, we stopped at one of Sedona's landmarks, Chapel of the Holy Cross, which I hope to cover in a future blog post.
